Went out in the spit last week and for the first 2 miles she seemed to
be firing on 3 cylinders.
Stopped by the side of the road and check things over and noticed the HT
connection to the coil was green with corrosion (coil is Lucas and has
done 500 miles!!)
I guessed this was the problem, attempted to clean the terminal and
drove on.
After about another mile the 4th cylinder kicked in and I had 50 miles +
of glorious driving through the hills!!
So to sort the problem I replaced the coil, only trouble is I can only
get 3 cylinders.
I know that the carbs (twin Webbers) are fine and full of fuel.
I noticed that if I pull the HT lead of number 1 spark plug the engine
tone hardly changes, any of the others and the car dies.
So is HT lead one toast?
What do you all think?
Thanks for any help
Cheers
tim
