I think as with most brake fluid the recommendation is
to change it on an annual basis.
I think that the most important issue is to bleed at
least a little out of each corner on a fairly regular
basis. Water is immiscible in DOT5 and collects at the
lowest point of the brake system. If you don't drain
the lines you will end up with rust problems in the
caliper/bleed screw area. And brakes that are less
than effective!
