Kevin,
I believe the resistor that you are talking about is part of the
Lucas "Opus" system, it is called a drive resistor and is located outside of
the ignition module because of the size and heat. I believe this is only
used with the Amplifier that is mounted to the dist. I have seen it mounted
to later models ( that use the constant energy system)without being hooked
up. It has nothing to do with the ignition coil voltage.
