...Okay...rear spring for a spitfire mkIV SCCA race car that I'm building.
Seems interesting...two questions arrived last night at 11:30 whilst
wrenching away.
The books says to to make sure the side marked front is facing the front of
the car...no marks to be found.
The other questions...Joe or Mark you may be able to answer this best as
your applications on the autox cars are probably more what I'm looking for.
How is your rear leaf assembled? I'm thinking the previous owner may have
assembled it wrong, or tried something very different.
It seems odd to me to have the longest leaf (the one that attached to the
suspension) under the lower plate of bracket that bolts to the diff. This
leaf has a short bolt with a pin to locate intot he diff.
This leaf is also only connected to the other by the outer clamps.
Then there is the second leaf, with the saftey catch loops cut off.
then the next leaf with the brackets, then floating leaf, bracket leaf and
the top short leaf. (I may have left one out, I'm at work)
All the leafs except the bottom are bolted with another bolt through to the
top, and the sandwich bracket around the leafs goes around those and bolts
to the diff, but excludes the bottom leaf from the brack, it must ride in
the groove in the top of the diff.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
