First post for many years as I've recently re-sub'd to
this list after an absence of several years. It's good
to see a few familiar names! So let me introduce
myself to those who are newer here or just forgetful!
I'm a Brit living in Texas, and the owner of FH43505 a
right hand drive 1973 Mk IV which I imported from the
UK when I moved here about 10 years ago. I've owned a
few Triumphs over the years mostly Spifires. I've
owned my '73 for almost 20 years, but I did sell it
twice in that period only to buy it back awhile later!
Anyway to the point of this post. Livia asked about
overheating. I was very concerned about this when we
moved to Texas. My '73 never ran very hot in the UK,
but I owned a 1500 once which would overheat all the
time. I replaced the radiator with a new UK spec (US
radiators are a little wider IIRC)radiator shortly
before we left the UK to help with this and added an
oil cooler shortly after we arrived. I have never had
a problem. I think that the oil cooler is a definite
help with the overheating. If the other good advice
doesn't fix the problem I suggest you consider one,
the other benefits of less oil viscosity degredation
can't be bad either!

Neil
