Just to be a nit-picker, the Phoenix, being mythical, cannot be native to
America, or anywhere else. Moreover, it was a creation of the Ancient
Greeks and/or Egyptians, at least 2500 years before Europeans discovered
America.
Still, a good creature for a mascot!
