I rebuilt the original engine in my Mk I but if I had it
to do over again, I would have spent the same amount of
money on a Plus engine. Unless you are a concours nut,
don't worry about originality, it's a Triumph, not a
Ferrari. The larger ports and valves are worth about
8-10 HP on a stock engine. Either set of carbs will
work, assuming that the shafts aren't sloppy, but the
older ones may be easier to adjust. YMMV.
