Paul, I also found similar spacers not for the hard top but for the pivot pin
on the clutch release. Nobody had such spacers. They sell them for car door
pins in various sizes. I just measured and got ones to fit within a thou. It's
that extra adventure and challenge in teh auto parts store to find a part that
works but is "and now for something completely different".
Ditto on the extra trim. I added to my hardtop as well. The stuff that's made
for door edges really thin and self adhesive. I used the black. I figured it
might help avoid that occasional scratch putting on the hard top. I think PO's
were regular as opposed to occasional in doing this and dropped rather than
placed the hard top by the bumps that were there from the corners of the top .
In fact it was worn through to the primer by the scratching. And before anyone
says about teh rear rubber mounts, I have replaced with new ones I fabricated
with some heavy rubber blocks. Another auto part store adventure. I think they
were the rubber scrapers for bondo sandwiched together to get the right
thickness - a bit thicker that what I assumed the original uncompessed part.
Hope these little tricks help someone else out there as well.
Alan
