Last night went for a pleasant drive , sunny, temp 75 degrees, stopped
to top up with gas , drove off went about four miles at about 100-120
k.p.h. Engine died, no coughs, spits, or bangs, tried restarting,
nothing, tuned over, but would not fire. There wasn't any smell of
unburnt gas around the carbs, i removed the air filters , undid the gas
line and blew back into the fuel tank, spun the engine to make sure the
pump was working , everything fine, reconnected gas line and tried to
start, nothing after several attempts i poured gas into the carbs, it
fired up and runs fine. I have a pair of Stromberg 150 s also a heat
shield. Was it a vapour lock, and how can i prevent it happening again.
Happy motoring (last night excepted) John Cave
