Amazing but true. To date Id only driven GTs.
But a green , chrome bumper 78 is on a used car lot
in town. So, I took FM76627 (are you paying attention
Joe?) for a joy ride. It has tan houndstooth seats
(drivers in great shape under seat cover) and shot blk
carpet. Orig paint has been touched up in a several
places (it looks mottley up close, OK at 15), a few
dings, rocker flanges tweaked in 2 places from
careless jacking. Almost no rust; but a little, under
damp carpets, but very solid overall. Cover for hood,
spare tire cover, seat covers, full tonneau, car cover
and hardtop.
It fired right over w/ the weber DGV and idled at
about 700 RPM. Engine bay is dirty (just dirt not
greasy). No smoke before or after ride. Clutch let out
nice and low, trans equally noise through all gears.
OD engaged and disengaged fine.
Kind of a rattly go-kart. I think the bonnet cones
are shot and jack was loose in trunk. It drove fine,
but the lack of power brakes was an eye opener at
first. I took it through my favorite S turn in town,
linked 90s really. It went through so easy, it was no
challenge; though I did pass a Volvo P1800 on the
inside of the 2nd apex (2 lane rd). Then 3 blocks
down the street, I saw some lady in her mid 50s
getting into a red mid sixties Alfa GTV. She looked
like she belonged in a bland, non-descript, 4 door GM
sedan. I guess the Car-ma was just out.
I think they are asking too much at $3000??? Prestige
Auto, Aberdeen, WA (on the coast) 360-533-3498. He
said buisness was slow, but he was pretty firm on the
price. Those seen like conflicting statements to me.
