Every few months I get a copy of this one. Actually, what they
want to give the carmakers is the same thing they've been giving
oil companies for YEARS! Now, when they say "Carmakers" does that
mean the actually places where they have factories? Are there many
car factories in California? It seems a bit fuzzy to me. The oil
companies have all the same exemptions-except that when you read
that one, it's clearly understood that it's talking about the
refineries here, in the state.
The thing that's REALLY disgusting here, is that rather than the
government agencies that are supposed to protect out environment
going after the gross polluters in the industrial sector-and the
oil comapnies are gross polluters, they let them pollute and then
place the blame on the little guy-the 2% of us who run old cars.
(And the Angelenos who enjoy a back yard BBQ!)
In Central Florida, they haven't any smog testing, and the old car
hobby thrives. What air pollution? They don't have any! And you
know why? No big industries there to spew they junk with the
blessings of the EPA. Think about it.
Oh, and btw my assemblyman is a Republican...nuff said?(And I'm
sure that I'm on his mail list-I write these people all the time.)
To paraphrase the NRA-they'll have to pry the keys to my '78 out
of my cold dead hands!
