I decided to treat my spit like royalty today. I changed the oil, fixed
some of it's wiring problems and replaced some of it's filters. I even
decided to give it a nice wash and wax, and how does it repay me......it
catches on fire! I noticed all afternoon that it had been burning oil,
from oil leaking onto the outer surface of the engine. Nothing serious
just annoying. After waxing the car I turned it back on and noticed smoke
coming from the vents on the hood..the vents that are on the outside of the
windscreen and have openings in the bonnet. I couldn't actually see the
flames but I could smell them and see the flickering shadows as I looked
down into the vent. Two questions....what is this vent for and what could
have caused the initial flames or tinder?
