Hi Richard
I have found that the plating on most modern replacement bolts isn't worth a
damn, I prefer to clean the nuts and bolts in a drop of thinners and refit
them with a drop of oil to protect the threads. Also the nuts and bolts on
the mid 70's cars are generally in worse condition than on the earlier cars.
Of course YMMV
