Dear All,

Carly has developed a worrying noise over the last day or so - a sort of
dull knocking from somewhere at the rear of the car. The noise is a
little like the sound of a helicopter in the distance, and it speeds up
when I do, and slows down when I do. Hard cornering doesn't affect it,
and nor does engaging the clutch. It is not constant, or terribly
loud, but it is causing me concern. It doesn't sound like a wheel
bearing problem. Any ideas? I'm planning on a 200-mile trip
tomorrow, and a 500-mile round trip next weekend, so if this is serious,
I really need to know!

ATB
