Tim - From what I had heard prior to installing my DGV, some people who
connected the valve cover vent to the air filter (since there is connection
already there for it) have the "oil out the dipstick" problem and others
don't. I entered my project thinking that I'll be one of those people that
don't have a problem. Well, wishful thinking got me no where and I had the
problem and had to tap into the inlet header and re-plumb the valve cover
vent there.

I guess I'd suggest tapping into the inlet header and putting a fitting
there for the hose since this is a little easier before it's on the car plus
you can do a better job making sure all the metal shavings are cleaned out.
You can put a small hose with a plug on it initially to blank off this port
and try routing the vent to the air filter first then route it to the inlet
header if you need to.

I'm glad this DGAV string has popped up. I brought my '79 Spit home
today with new floor pans after having been off the road for almost 2
years. During that time, I continued to buy parts (an acquired habit!)
and
I purchased a DGAV/Pierce setup with a K&N air filter from a guy who said
he bought it from Paul Tegler. The air filter has a fitting on the side
to receive the stock vent hose from the valve cover.

My question is: Since I have this vent port, will I encounter the dread
"oil from the dipstick" problem. I know this sounds hypothetical, but I
have not plumbed the system so now would a good time to make the
necessary modifications.

OK all you "Sage Advisors" what do you think?
