Hello gang,
Saturday, I finally got the top nut holding the carb to the manifold out. I
used my trusty old 3" long vise-grip I bought when I was 12 years old!
Anyway, replaced the carb with the one I rebuilt this winter. Man, what a
difference. The engine run smoother and pull more throughout the rpm range.
One thing I noticed was the one of the two gaskets between the carb and the
intake was the wrong one. It was about 3/16 smaller than the opening of the
manifold and no provision for the bypass.
Anyway, although the rebuilt carb (CD150) works quite well (The engine
actually starts on the first try now!), I have a problem with the choke.
When I pull the choke (engine cold or hot) the engine starts to go a little
faster and then, almost immediately, start to sputter like it's running only
on 3 cylinders and wants to die.
So, right now I basically start the engine with the choke and then remove it
almost immediately and let the engine warm up at idle.
Any thoughts?
