According to the books, Daffy and Carly should be twins, with a few
minor exceptions:

I have the nice "TRIUMPH" number plate light housing, and you don't
(change at FH116000).

You should have the US-style bonnet bracing bar (changed Dec. '77)

I have the earlier SU carbs; you have the later (changed at FH118874).

You have a viscous fan coupling on your radiator fan, and I don't
(changed at FH105734).

You have fine grain vinyl; I have coarse grain (changed at FH113678).

You have loop pile carpets, I have tufted (changed at FH114523).

You have (I think) the Mota-Lita steering wheel with the real leather
rim and the Leyland Logo in the centre; I (should) have the three-spoke
(unslotted) wheel with the vinyl rim and Triumph name in the centre
(changed "mid-1978").

That is actually quite a lot of changes in a short period of time.

A pain, aren't they?   How much would it have hurt BL to provide an
extra inch of cable?

I know where the wires are - they were easy to find!   Let me just go
out and fumble around the boot hinge...

Whoopee!   No sign of the switch, but I've found the (all-but-invisible)
mounting bracket, and now I don't need to drill any holes in Carly. :-)

Oh, dear.   I *like* my silver wing (door) mirrors, and she would look a
lot more "classic" with silver wipers as well.   One correspondent tells
me that the black fittings were not universal until a bit later, so I
might be able to cheat and go silver, despite Thomason's claims that we
all should have black fittings from FH80000 (i.e. Jan 1976)...

I'm glad to hear that Daffy will not put Carly entirely to shame when
they meet! :-)

Mine are black (but loose and faded).

As far as I can tell, there are dozens of different answers to this
question.   My own view is to go with the enormous close-up of the gear-
knob in the sales literature, which is unfortunately the least
attractive option available - wood-effect plastic.   Yuk!   No wonder
there are so many cars with aftermarket gear-knobs.

I shall do this on my return from the Black Sea, as it is high time the
two girls got together and swapped horror stories about their respective
owners.
