Or you could time yourself between mile markers on a relatively straight
highway:
At a constant 40 MPH it should take you 1 minute 30 seconds per mile.
50 MPH would be 1 minute 12 seconds
60 would take you one minute exactly
70 would be about 51 seconds
With an old style mechanical speedo, the error could vary according to
speed. Be safe, have a helper man the watch, you concentrate on
maintaining the constant velocity.
