Joe, I'm having trouble visualizing the point about the air pump. The air
pump on my '79 blows through a one-way check valve into a single port in
the stock exhaust manifold. How could that pressurize the crankcase? If
the pump is disconnected by removing the drive belt, the exhaust blows back
through the check valve (a little bit, not much). The pressure never gets
back into the engine in any way that I can see. Maybe other years are
different?
Seems to me the problem with the DGV installations is the placement of the
vacuum tap. IMO it should be _after_ the throttle butterfly as on the ZS,
not on the air cleaner.
I also realize that many other cars connect the breather to the air filter
housing with no ill effects.
