Depends on where the rust is and how good you are with angle grinder,
tinsnips and welder. You don't say wjere the rust is, but the windshield
surround is most likely to be rusted at the back, where moisture tends to
get trapped under the side window rubbers. This is comparatively easy to
remedy with some flat sheet steel, if you know what you're doing.
If it's the curvy front bits, repair is a little more difficult. This is
not helped by the fact that new replacement windshield surrounds are
currently unavailable.
Since I have never even been near to a welder, I had my windshield surround
repaired by a body shop. They did a good job. See the second picture on
