Yes, very helpful indeed!

I've settled on Pirellis-lots of good recommendations. I would have preferred
to keep it British with get Dunlops, but they don't seem to be terribly
available in my area.

Which brings me to another point-I know several people who have bought new
tires off the internet-and got good deals. Of course, these were much bigger
tires than I'm looking at and in the end, it turns out to be cheaper to buy
them locally where I won't have to pay extra for the mounting. (I really wanted
to try the internet thing, though!)

Thanks listers for the input-now I've just got to start saving!

Update on o/d-I've absolutely decided that this is something that's going to
happen-so, I've started looking around and researching all the needs and
options. I have decided, though, that I don't want the button on the gear
shift-I'll have a toggle on the dash-which means that I'm going to
"re-configure" the layout of the dash. I'll move the turn signal indicator to
where the hazard switch used to be (there's just a 'button' there now) and
enlarge that hole to put the oil pressure guage there. (Right now it's near the
choke-on the other side of the car!) And the toggle for the o/d will go under
the new location for the oil pressure. And I'll put a clock where the oil
pressure gauge is currently located.

On the other hand...a friend of mine has offered to help me make a new dash
from Freds templates...it's a thought.

One more thing-for those who get a lot of grim on the inside of the bonnet-I
know I do, with all the driving I do-I finally found something that really cuts
through the oil and grease and road grime-Astro Shield! It's airplane polish.
I've been using it on the rest of the car-and it's great cleaning off the crap
from the Monzas that gunk up my rear bumper-really shines up the chrome. So, I
thought the other day-maybe it'll clean the inside of the bonnet-and it did!

Just thought I'd pass it along,

Laura G.-and "Nigel"
