I don't usually do this but . . .
I considering selling my GT6 tranny. It depends upon what kind of response
I get I suppose. It should fit any GT6 66-73. It's in really great shape,
being a rebuilt unit from Victoria British that I ordered over 10 years
ago. It's a standard three rail, and would appear to have the larger
synchros installed. It was in my 70 GT6+ up until I replaced it with an
overdrive unit. I have had it in my garage (actually now its in my old
rented house's garage) basically as a backup in case my overdrive unit ever
failed, but that was probably about 8 or more years ago, and I really don't
see the tranny in there now failing anytime soon since I drive the car so
infrequently. I would suspect that this tranny has maybe 5000 miles on it
MAX. It shifted smoothly, all synchros worked and no gear noise at all
when it was removed. Basically it's a "new" broken in rebuilt.
As I have mentioned, this is a NON overdrive unit, no bell housing or top
cover (shifting mechanism portion), speedo drive gear just as one would get
if they ordered a rebuilt unit from one of the vendors -
I was thinking around $500 (I believe that's about half the cost of
currently rebuilt ones) plus shipping and insurance of course, which could
be expensive ($50-60 USA) because of weight and or size. I would ship it
in a wooden crate (UPS), well packed to insure undamaged delivery
I would imagine anything overseas would cost more than the unit is worth
and I don't want to deal with customs or brokers - so I'm afraid I'll be
restricting it to USA deliveries only
Any takers and I'll get the unit this weekend and make sure everything is
in order - otherwise I'll probably post it on Ebay (or the TTG) sites and
see what develops -
I just can't see this perfectly good unit, languishing unused anymore in
the garage -
