I realize that on my race car things are a lot easier to get at but I wouldn't
suggest smacking the crank nut. I would recommend putting an air impact on it
and turn it off. if you are turning the engine backwards because the clutch is
slipping then you could remove the starter and hold the flywheel. Of course I
encourage soaking for many days prior to removal.
