A quick heads-up...
I am pickier than most about the parts installed on my cars. In preparing
to revamp the cooling system on the 1980 Spitfire, I ordered a set of hoses
from Victoria British.
When pulling together the order, I noted they had 2 types of hoses. One is
noted as "Kevlar", the other without comment other than RL, LH or bottom
hoses. I feel silly now, as all radiator hoses I have ever seen have some
type of reinforcement fibers.
Nope, not when it comes to the hoses Victoria British sent me. They are
plain rubber, with no sign of reinforcement. The part numbers were 2-602,
2-603 and 2-604 (locally available in Seattle from one British supplier
under the same part numbers - for more money).
Luckily, VickyBrit had no problems arranging for an exchange. They
credited the entire original shipping cost (for the whole order, not just
the hoses) towards the new order of Kevlar hoses.
The moral of the story I guess is to buy heavy-duty when possible. Live
and learn -;-)
