   First, your overdrive should only engage in 3rd or 4th gear.  If you can
   engage it in any other gear, that means your inhibitor switch is not
   working on is missing.   You should check the oil level in your gear
   box, the overdrive needs to build up pressure before it engages once the
   switch is turn on.  If you are low on oil this is one of the symptom.
