Typo (and pun) intentional. Hi all, Why I remember this, I'm not sure, but a 50k mi fix for the flat spot in the steering is to disassemble the pinion from the rack (mark orientation) and rotate it 180 degrees. The pinion is as likely to be worn as is the rack, so you could eliminate 1/2 of the wear. ...however... if the rack is that worn that you get slop in the TURNS now, I'd just seek a replacement rack.
