My tunnel vision was at work again.  I hadn't considered tape or Velcro.
Either one sounds workable.  I like not drilling holes in my nice, shiny,
new floors  Maybe I'm just a rustophobic.  Thanks, gentlemen.

Bill,

The carpet kit I purchased also had the snaps, and, like you, nothing on the
floor boards. Rather than drill holes to install the snaps, I used
double-sided tape to keep the carpet in place. Works great, allows easy
removal, and no holes drilled in the floorboard.
