Guys,

I think I may have my answer after some more research with the Spitbits
catalog. The number on my original trans is FT31778. The o/d is FT35488
crossed out with FT44033 right below it. Looking in the catalog there are
two input shafts for the single rail trans. One for before FT42238 and one
after. It appears that for the bellhousing there are also 2 seperate front
covers. So it looks like they will not match right up. So the next
question is. Can I pull the input shaft out of my old trans and pop it
right into the new trans? Are they the same other than where they have the
bearing? Also, I have the o/d trans sitting on the floor. I read in the
Haynes manual that to remove the o/d unit you should make sure it is
disengaged so it will pop off easier. Is there are way to check whether it
is engaged or not on the floor and if so how do I disengage it or remove it
from the trans?

Thanks!!!

Dave
