More Ignition Problems

I am having problems with my ignition.  The problem is real intermittant.  I
don't seem to be getting any spark when the engine is turning over.  But, if
I turn the key to the On position the coil sparks.  But nothing else.  I
have a Piranha electronic ignition box with optical pickup.  I have checked
the wiring and can't find a short or any problem.  I am thinking about
getting a Crane ignition kit and trying that.  Does anyone have any
suggestions or ideas?
