Great tip (the tape thing), thanks!

BTW, have you ever explained the genesis of your car's name? Something in
the lyric of the song of the same name?

Hi Mike,

The commission plates from VB are blank and you will need to stamp the
number yourself, or take it to an engraver like the kind you'd find at your
local shopping mall. Metal stamp sets aren't all that expensive, but if
you're only going to use it once, maybe you can rent or borrow a set from
someone.

I had paint over my commission paint also and had good success removing
nearly all of it by pressing clear packing tape (the 2" wide stuff) against
the plate, burnishing it down real good, then yanking it off. The body
paint came off, leaving the black paint on the commission plate beneath it
intact.

Best wishes,

Jeff in San Diego
