Hello

Can anyone help me? My car is a 76 Spit 1500. I seem to get a low rumbling
noise that starts at about 50 mph. I suspected it to be the propshaft, I
have fitted new U/J's and had it balanced. This might have improved it
slightly but not noticably.

I have also rotated the propshaft on the car through 90 degrees at a time to
see if that made a difference and it did (it made it worse!!), but there is
still this slight rumbling noise.

My propshaft is of the strap type (good or bad??), I noticed that there are
3 pairs of straps and then just one on its own, should this be like that,
I'm guessing they should all be pairs.

Do you think a new propshaft would solve this problem, or could it be
resolved by other means.

I don't know whether this is of any relevance but I also have minilight
alloys on the car which I know are slightly wider than the standard wheels,
could these be causing the rumbling?

Many Thanks

Stuart Kettle
