It's true that these "rollers" look like roller bearings (and may actually
be), but in this application they don't function as roller bearings. They
merely locate a "spline" so to speak, so their function as roller bearings
is really nonexistent. From what I remember, they are installed as
mentioned, in opposing positions presumably for better location control as
the actual fore-aft movement in the "sliding" section is relatively small
in this application.
