If the Germans are going to get upset over such a trivial thing as that they
shouldn't have started the war in the first place! Maybe Keith Allen should
have used a TRIUMPH Spitfire instead. :-)

And another "Only in Britain" story - this time of political correctness
gone a
little bit mad. With Euro 2000 (the European soccer championships) only a
few
months away, the video for England's official theme song has been "censored"
by
the Football Association.

Fat Les (whose unoffical anthem, Vindaloo, was far more popular than the
offical
song during the World Cup in 1998) are due to release their version of
"Jerusalem" in just a few weeks - but the FA have asked that certain scenese
be
removed from the video - including shots of Fat Les founder Keith Allen
dressed
up as a WWII ace flying a Spitfire! Apparently, they think it will upset
the
Germans. And I thought that was the whole idea! Come on England!

Today the Queen opened a new bridge, the first purely pedestrian bridge to
be built across the River Thames in over a century.

So what, you say?

I'm sure it could *only* happen in Britain - the bridge isn't finished!!! So
far it only goes 3/4 of the way across!

I know we have a reputation for eccentricity but surely ....

PS. It seems Phoenix have bought Rover for £10 - why didn't they ask me? I'm
sure I'd have found a spare tenner if that's all they wanted ;-)
