Hi,

I have been rebuilding the suspension on my 80 Spitfire and in the
process decided I should redo the brakes.

Well, I ran into a problem. On the later Spits there is an unusual
brake line on the rear brakes. The brake hose runs from the (#1) brake
line on the chassis to a (#2) brake line on the brake backing plate
instead of directly to the brake cylinder. Well #2 is the unusual one,
it has a male and a female end instead of the standard 2 male ends.

All the auto parts stores around here only carry the standard brake
lines with some adapters (that I don't think will work right). I tried
the local hydraulics shop that makes lines and he couldn't come with a
solution - he might be able to farm out the work and have a steel
braided line made The hose he carries is all too large. I tried the
line and adapter that VB sells once before and decided against it.
SpitBits only sells complete brake line sets that would have this piece.

So my question is has any one replaced this line? and if so how?

TIA

Roger Elliott
