Please make sure you have checked the spacing from the bottom of the Dizzy
mounting piece to the top of the hole in the side of the block.
This spacing is need to make sure the drive gear for the Dizzy runs true to
the gear on the Dizzy.

Subject: Distributor fouling with alternator - update
Thanks to all who replied to my earlier message.
I have moved the distributor around by 90 degrees and wanted to clarify what
I've done is correct. So...
1. I rotated the crank so that no.1 piston was on it's firing stroke and TDC
and checked that the rotor arm was pointing towards spark plug no.1
connection in the cap and the timing marks on the pulley were in line, both
were.
2. I loosened the clamp plate bolt and attempted to move the distibutor
anti-clockwise by 90 degrees but this was not possible as the assembly was
seized up!
3. After unseizing the parts I mounted the distributor back in it's original
position and twisted it by 90 degrees so that the rotor arm and the new no.1
spark plug connection were in line (as much as they could be by eye).
4. The HT leads were then changed and put back in the correct firing order,
no.1 being were the rotor arm was pointing to.
I know I will have to properly time the engine but can't do that until I get
the tub back and get it to a state where starting the engine is possible.
Would someone please confirm what I've done is correct.
TIA,
Pete.
