If there is anyone out there with a factory or Bentley workshop manual
that goes past 1974 (my Bentley doesn't), could you please verify or
correct the following figures for me, as they apply to a "Federal" 1976
Spitfire 1500 engine:
Bore size:
Grade F -- 2.899-2.900 in / 73.64- 73.66 mm
Grade G -- 2.9005-2.9010 in / 73.67-73.86 mm
Piston top diameter (Grades F and G):
2.87-2.873 in / 72.9-72.98 mm
Piston bottom diameter:
Grade F -- 2.8984-2.8989 in / 73.62-73.63 mm
Grade G -- 2.899-2.8995 in / 73.635-73.647 mm
Groove width:
bottom -- .1578-.1588 in / 3.99-4.01 mm
middle and top -- .064-.065 in / 1.625-1.650 mm
Ring width:
bottom oil control, 3-part -- .154-.156 in / 3.9-3.96 mm
center and top, compression -- .062-.0625 in / 1.575-1.5787 mm
