After cleaning my guages and temporarily setting them back in place in the
Rimmer Bros. dash until my refurbished facia arrives, I decided to see how
they looked all cleaned up. I also bought new light bulbs for all the
guages while I have everything apart.
The guages look GREAT -- like brand new -- but something strange going on
here and I'm not certain how to solve the problem... I thought I'd
connected all the grounds back up properly, but in retrospect I obviously
didn't. Right now, when I turn my ignition key on (enough to activate the
warning lights), my temperature guage lights up. But as soon as I flip the
light switch on, the rest of the guages light up but the temp lamp goes out.
Huh? I followed the ground I had connected to the temp guage and was
puzzled to see it leading to the heater motor. Did I grab the wrong ground
lead to attach to the temp guage? I'm thinking so. I probably accidentally
swapped it with one of the several grounds that are terminating on the
speedo bracket. But just where is that ground wire from heater motor
supposed to terminate to then?
