The squirrels are killing my transportation. A couple of weeks ago, I
went out and cranked the wife's Chev & got absolutely no fire. Underhood
check revealed a wire loom chewed to hell, & one small black wire chewed
apart plus one small blue wire grossly molested. Put a jumper connecting
the two ragged ends of the black wire, and the Chev started right up; never
bothered checking my shop manual to see what they were, but later did a
proper splice/crimp job & covered all with some new loom.
This evening I cranked the Sonoma; same thing - absolutely no fire.
Massive squirrels' nest underhood - again including chewed wire! The Spit
is probably next on the Squirrel Target List (had to get in that LBC
content).
In all my years (and they are many - about 2/3s of a century), I've never
experienced this. The cars/trucks are outside in the driveway and we do
have numerous trees & squirrels (but always have). The vehicles do not sit
for extended periods, rarely for more than 2 days at the most - (those
squirrels apparently are fast workers - as fast as beavers).
Do any of you Spitlisters have advice for me on a good Squirrel-Deterrent
Method? For example, moth-balls work great in the attic, but I'm hesitant
to sprinkle them about the engine compartment of daily drivers. Any and all
defense suggestions against these furry-tailed rats will be greatly
appreciated (and potentially will Save a Spit From the Killer Squirrels).
