Hi Jeff,
I managed to dismantle my seat rails on my Stag. I'm not sure if they are
similar to the Spit. There are 4 ball bearing, 2 on each side of one rail,
and 2 roller bearings that run along the bottom . They are held in with
pins. I think I removed 1 pin from 1 side, then slide the rail as far is it
would go and then remove the bearings. Then slide the rail all the way to
the other end, remove the pin and then the bearings.
In my case, most of the bearings were missing so the rails were rubbing
against each other.
The rails aren't perfect, but they now slide better. I used a regular
grease.
Hope that helps somewhat

Greetings all. I'm in the process of cleaning (bead blasting and wire
brushing) my seat rails in an attempt to remove a fair amount of rust. The
tracks still slide fairly well, but I can't figure out how to disassemble
them so I can really clean the inside of the rails where they actually make
contact together. I see some sort of a spring or something inside when I
peer in there. If anyone can advise me on how to disassemble the seat
rails, I'd appreciate it. If not, I'll just clean 'em as best I can, paint
them with a metallic finish and lube 'em with graphite as best I can.
Best wishes,
Jeff in San Diego
