I bought some extra chrome pieces that I didn't need, in order to get a part
I really wanted from someone. I sold a decent set of chrome window cranks
for a dollar on eBay. The buyer got a good deal. I listed them cheap
because I thought they had a bit of rust, which turned out to be dirt, which
was easily cleaned off.
My moral of the story: Know what you are SELLING on eBay, also.
I just bought a Mk2 / early Mk3 dash support for $9.95 that included the
side pads and radio mounting plate -- all in great shape. Before this
purchase, I had been quoted between $15 and $20 for the radio mounting plate
ALONE, so yes, I was very happy with that purchase, even though I didn't
really need the support bracket and pads. Now I have spares, plus the part
I really wanted, for roughly half of what I could get it for elsewhere.
It IS important to know the value of what you're bidding on, though.
Best wishes,
Jeff in San Diego

P.S. I may be looking for a '62 - '67 Spitfire seat frame in good
condition. If anyone has one lying around, let me know. There's a crack
between the seat frame and back on mine. I think it can be repaired with a
weld, but I just want to check around -- in case...
