My 77 had a bolt for a bearing carrier pivot when I bought it.
I had to rebuild the engine when I got home because #2 rod bearing was wiped
(pushed it the last mile).
The clutch worked well on the drive home but I replaced it when the engine
was out just in case.
Anyway I didn't recognize that the bolt was not the proper pivot and put it
back together without replacing it.
About three days after I had it back on the road I had excessive vibration
from the front of the transmission, pulled the transmission out and found
that the extra play allowed by the bolt/pivot had beaten the input shaft
collar/seal into pieces.
As a result I would only use a bolt for a pivot in an emergency to get home.
