Fred I have seen "new" models for sale that are 2 years behind the current model
year. i.e. now in 2000 model year in 1999 there are still 1998 models for sale
and that as you point out does not include the assembly and factory time, just
when it rolls off the line. And as you pointed out most of these are in exposed
car lots. The Californian car may already sat through an east coast winter
waiting for a thaw...
