This is known as mail bombing, and unfortunately is not very
effective. Most spammers forge their return addresses anyway.
If they forge it to some valid address, you will mailbomb
an innocent third party.
The real trouble though, is that it overloads intermediate
servers, punishing them with spam which was not originating
from them.
Many ISPs will cancel your account for mailbombing, no matter who
the target was. It mail also be considered harassment or computer crime
in some jurisdictions, although prosecution is extremely unlikely.
www.abuse.net has some good resources for actually tracking
down the culprits. If you can track down the real ISP of
the spammer, there is a very good chance that you can get
them to close the spammers account. This is known as Whack-A-Mole
since the spammer will pop up at another ISP.
