The distributor is electronic and has an old Allison (Now crane) XR700
module.  I will check the shaft for play though.

        Is there any wear in the distributor? If the shaft wobbles, the
point gap will
        change. If so, you have two choices: fix/replace the distributor or
change to
        electronic (e.g. Pertronix Ignitor or Crane).
