I've a question for the list. My spitfire does not ("Will not") want to rev
higher then about 5200 RPM. Up to 5000 rpm it's quite strong, then it just
seems to hit a ceiling. The car has an old Allison xr700 ignition module
and a Lucas coil. The fuel side is fine (I.E. new filter, newer fuel pump,
etc. Carb is a SZ150. Mixture is about right or a tad rich. I have
noticed a small crack in the underside of the coil cap. (Need New coil?)
Any suggestions. The engine is a newer 1980 with about 55k miles.
Also I've noticed that the newer Crane XR700 module has the black ground
wired to ground and yellow to the coil. On my old Allison unit the black
(Ground) is wired to the coil and the purple wire is attached to ground. Is
this correct?.
