I just hauled our 66 MkII Spit back from Ohio to NY with one of Uhauls
Finest.
The early Spits measure 48" for track. I had ONE INCH to spare but it fit.
Course I DID use a 3/4 ton Chevy pickup to tow it with. Good thing too.

Oh, but I beg to differ, sir! A Spit will fit nicely on the Uhaul auto
transport! I used one a couple of times before I bought my current trailer.
The only drawback to the Uhaul unit is WEIGHT! The things weigh about 2100
lbs empty! Says so right on the mfg's ID plate.
