Last year I visited the the Roadster Factory a few days after the Summer Party
(my in-laws live in PA about 25 mins from TRF). Charles Runyan, the TRF and
Coventry Inn owner, has a TR5 PI which I photographed while I was there (he
drove it to work that day). I bet it was the same car. I also got some pics of
the Triumph LeMans car which is parked in the lobby.

Well, I didn't get to go to the whole Party, but I did get to drive
down to Indiana, PA for the car show yesterday. Man was it great.
Got to see more Triumphs in one place than I have seen in years.
Learned a lot looking that is going to be very helpful in restoring
my 79 Spitfire. (Which, by the way, not only made the 200 mile each
way trip fine, but got 36mpg going it. Imagine what it would be if
I only had overdrive!!) Of course, after looking things over my wife
decided she liked the TR6's. Depending on how this Spitfire turns
out maybe that can be our next. Myself, I really liked the Stags.
One curiosity though. In front of the Coventry Inn was a TR5 that
had 2500 on the side and PI on the back. I have never seen one of
these before. But when I was in Europe, I had a friend with a
Triumph 2.5PI. We always used to wonder about taking a TR6 or TR250
and putting the engine, trans and diff from the PI into it. If I
understand what I saw (unfortunately, this car must be someones
transportation and wasn't in the show, so the hood was down and I
didn't get to see the engine) Triumph actually sold a car that was
exactly this. Can anyone (like it's owner!) verify this to satisfy
my curiosity??
I was also surprised to see some cars being shown that were not even
at the stage of repair that mine was when I bought it. Makes me sad
I didn't decide to show it. Maybe next year!!
