As far as comparing dyno numbers are concerned, I have had significant
amounts of experience. I must note however that all this experience is
based in Radio Controlled Car Racing. I personally own a dyno, for my R/C
motors. I have found that number are dependable only when compared to
other dynos of the same brand, and sometimes the same design. Operation
of the dyno has made the numbers vary less than have testing conditions.
The temp. of a motor has a big influence on electric motors, I'm sure it
makes a difference for gas motors as well. The number I gain from my dyno
are invalueble, they make quite a difference on how I'll setup my gearing
for the particular motor. They almost make as much of a difference as the
track layout.
