Having been there my self, rebuilding the harness will be realy dificult,
you have to get the correct angles of bends in 3D, plus all the correct
mesurements. A new wiring loom is a complete waste of money unless your car
is realy fried.
I did option B on my car, you need to get the non sticky tape for wiring the
loom. Ordinery insulating tape is lubricated by the glue and goes realy
nasty after a couple of months, pealing back etc.
New gromets, replace the wires which need doing, leave the rest. Unless
they are corroded or melted you way better leaving them. Only unrap one
little bit at a time or else you will be in trouble, be very carfull to make
the bends exactly the same, this is why you don't want to replace much wire.
Also renew all the connectors, and if the ends of the wire have gone renew
the end 4 inches, soldering and putting some insulating thin heatshrink on.
Renew all the bullet connectors, solder on type! Get the spade connectors
with seporate insulators and spades so you can crimp and then solder.
There are companys who specialise in wiring products, one in the UK I
spotted a year after I did my car is Vehical Wiring Products. Who do not
only ordinery coloured wires, but they also do ones with the correct lucas
tracer feeds on! +44 (0)115 9305454 have a nice catolog, but I am yet to
order from them so I can't recomend which way!
Always order half as much again, it may cost you more, but it's cheaper than
having to reorder somthing for beeing a foot short.
