I've been doing some research on original factory colours using the original
factory paint charts from the Archives at Gaydon. Effectively, the chart
print date determines the general switch from one colour to another and
while I've only been researching colours for the 2000/2.5PI cars, the charts
were the same in terms of colours offered. CONIFER ran from Oct 1967 to Sep
1968 and LAUREL ran from Feb 1969 to Dec 1970.

This is marginally confusing as far as CONIFER is concerned because on early
Mk 1 2000's it was possible to order a duo-tone paint of CONIFER (roof down
to base of screen) with CACTUS for the rest. Unfortunately I don't have the
colour chart for 1963 - and neither does Gaydon. Yet again, something that a
misguided soul at STI probably threw out on the basis of "we don't need that
now" - and I'm just as guilty!
